This dude should look into working as teacher! Highschool gym..
He needs to teach PE and get a teachers certificate making 50k and working with HS athletes.
I'm making 10.00 an hour with 100.000.00 in student loans.
Dude is getting ripped off. Hes suppose to be making at least 60k a year doing personal training. And he got ripped off getting that degree. You can get a personal training certification for under 15k in under 18 months depending on the accredited school. And 15k for that certification is still high and a rip off.
Woowww….spent nearly $163k to earn merely $14/hr job in NYC??? That doesn’t make any sense at all…I am confused. Obviously, the ROI was truly awful for this particular caller. Why not major in professional or marketable degree(s) (i.e. engineering, medical science, biology, business, finance, education, math etc…). Needless to say, this was a colossal mistake NOT conducting an extensive research especially when the so-called higher education nowadays is very very expensive. BTW, that was my entry-level salary a generation ago at a bank in a mid-sized town.

This video definitely hit home. I made a dumb move getting a MSW to enter the Social Work field.
The pay was less than 40K, workload…heavy, workplace…toxic, and opportunities limited in settings which paid higher wages.
Lesson to young adults:
Please do NOT go into the Social Work field and AVOID student loan debt.
Select an inexpensive degree which will teach you a skill (Health care, Education, and etc.) Or Trade School (Automotive Repair, Cosmetology, Carpentry, Dental Hygienist).
You can open your own business or do contract work on the side if you have a skill and will NOT have student loan debt.
Guys, I work in the head of HR of a hospital. Please for the love of god, don't get a social work degree, exercise degree, dietitian degree, these are degrees that people have a bunch of letters behind their names making the least amount of income. Dietitian's usually have 3 masters and a PHD, making 35k a year. Stop it!!! Stop it! I went to school of BA in Hr making 90k. My school cost me $25k for the entire 4 years. That's an investment.

What school is this that chargers 160 for personal trainer. This is ridiculous. Feel bad for the kid, he got trapped.
It doesn’t cost $160k+ to be a personal trainer. Could’ve just picked up a few certifications. And the sad part is not that it’s not a whole lot you can do with that degree, maybe research or teach. But it sounds like he really doesn’t want to give this up this career path – even temporarily – to get out of the hole. Never pay more for a degree than you can earn back in income. That’s an expensive and disheartening life lesson.
