After a year of unsuccessfully trying to conceive naturally, Jaclyn and Richard racked up thousands in fertility treatment costs on credit before becoming pregnant with their son Mac. Their debt piled up when Jaclyn’s maternity leave reduced her regular monthly take-home pay by 55%, but Richard still plans to become a stay at home Dad. Neither Jaclyn or Richard are willing to give anything up to make ends meet. Host Gail Vaz-Oxlade breaks the difficult truth: if they don’t stop encouraging each others’ reckless spending and instead start working together to manage their finances, this couple’s future may be filled with a big debt instead of the big family they’ve always wanted. –

If the mama is working days can't the daddy work two or three nights a week picking up some extra money. I was married 2 years working days full time and my husband working second shift before our daughter came along and then I went part-time after she was born so we could avoid child care. My two daughters are 4 years apart so when my oldest started kindergarten my husband went to days and I stayed home till the youngest reached grade school and then I worked a job just during the school year taking Summers off till the youngest reached Junior High and then I went back to work full time. We were very careful with our money and carried no debt other than a mortgage and a used car payment no credit card debt we didn't even have a credit card for many years
they want too much and want to sacrifice too little. I foresee disaster
He's the woman in the relationship.
I wonder how Gail determines the value of the extra gift that she sometimes gives at the end. I thought this couple did great, but $200 is not a lot for travel, and I think this is the smallest value of the extra gift that I've seen. Even Wendy and Dan in season 1 (the dance teacher who quit her job), who only earned a $3,000 check got a professional grade digital camera. In season two she sent Wojtek and Elizabeth's family to Vancouver for her brother's wedding, and this feels like a similar situation, but not a similar amount of financial assistance. Maybe it's because the the season 2 family had a much smaller annual income, so they wouldn't have been able to go otherwise.
what floors me is these people make so much money and still are in bad shape..i make a 1/4 of most of these and support two people
3000 to have a baby is dirt cheap!
The dad is being super unreasonable with responsibilities
They are such lovely parents. I hope all the best in the future. Gail did it again!
This happens all to much and drives people apart and there now was never planned to have a child and the mother took it upon herself to stop birth control and not telling to get pregnant but I'm just a loser that got hurt at work yrs ago get a whole 16k a yr laughable and have no way to provide which she knew and now lost her job due to covid and doesn't want to work any more but gets no money and our home is about to be sold and bla bla bla ruffle so what do i do been 3 yrs now as well I've begged pleaded yelled flipped out you name it won't motivate it HELP NANNY
I love this couples attitude they went in with a good look on everything. I hope it all went well for them.
This video felt as if it had been cut down a bit – the amount of debt, and the baby-sized jars were rushed. But I love this couple – born to be parents.
That baby doesn't need more clothes and toys for that month at least . I know babies grow up fast but not that fast and the toys, for God's sake this baby have more toys than 5 babies together. I know they love him but imagine how much they will spoil that child
That was cute when dad said : the only thing I ever wanted to do and managed to accomplish was to marry Jackie”. I have very high hopes they will do well in future
I feel like dad is being selfish. He made $69000 a year. He can’t work part time and stay home with baby 5 days per week. There’s an extra $1500+ per month with 2 days of work per week. And instead cutting a $75/month gift budget. Idk I’m trying to see things objectively. It’s not about being a stahm vs stayd. I’d work a couple of days per week and still consider myself a stahm if it meant such a huge difference in our quality of life.
These people are pigs. They bought fast food four times in one day, and then went to a restaurant!
How much "Stuff" does a baby really need? Most of it is for the parents. SO much of the stuff you need for a baby can be bought second hand.
Loved the update at the end!!!
I love this couple! They both have such good attitudes!
If you go back to @1:40 mark you’ll see the time 4:11am ??????
